Work From Home Ideas - Earning Money Online
 

This article has been written with good intentions and to the best of my knowledge, but please do your own research before following any advice. I am not an expert.
 

Working from home is a wonderful concept and when heard about it 6 years back, it immediately caught my attention. Hey, why not, who would not want to sit at their home on their sofa or a personal office and still earn descent money. I currently have a regular 8AM-5PM office job and like everyone else there are good days, bad days and very bad days. Sometimes I feel I want to walk into the office of my boss and say "I QUIT", well may be it will happen one day. The guy who sits next to my cubicle in office buys a lottery ticket every week, but unfortunately the chances of winning it are just too low. But I have decided to take a different approach, I am not going to leave the fate of becoming rich in the hands of a lottery picker or anything which involves sheer luck. I am going to work hard and make my own way to the success.

Remember the movie "Catch me if you can" featuring (Leonardo Dicaprio) .. One of the best inspirational quotes I have ever come across is from that movie.
  
Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse, wouldn't quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out.

This basically teaches you just one simple thing, you need to work hard to achieve success. People who don't, drown.

Anyway sorry for deviating from the core topic of Work from home ideas, if you are getting impatient, feel free to jump further below and start reading the ideas to earn money from your own home, which I feel are legitamate and proven to be successful for most people. Honestly, there are no shortcuts to earning money online and 99.9% people who make claims to have earned money big time in a short span are either lying or have used wrong means to make that money or they have a once in a million/rare idea (hardly happens). Earning money online is not an easy job ..PERIOD! ... BUT it is very much doable and there are tons of ways you can do it. Thousands or probably millions of people do it. You can earn enough money from your home to call it your part time of even a full time job. You actually can even become a millionaire if you are exceptionally successful.

Do I make money online?
Yes, besides my office job, I earn about 25% extra of my income with my online job. I believe that within 2 years I will exceed my work from home income from a regular office job. I have been doing this for about 3 years. In the first year I actually fell in the trap of people who had "Get rich fast" schemes. I did not think it through too well and ended up spending my money towards their own profit. They got rich but I did not. I am serious, most tempting schemes you will see out there will actually make you lose money and nothing else. In the first year I spent countless of hours researching online about "Quick Rich" schemes and these guys have a phenominal power to convince you. They make money often by selling you their own CD's, brochures, wierd investment schemes and whatever, and then you are all by yourself. Thankfully, I did not lose much (about $300 down). But I learned that I need to keep trying like the "mouse who wouldn't quit".

Some best online work from home ideas to earn money:

1. Sell items online:
You can start by selling items on eBay. For example, you can have slogans printed on T-Shirts and let buyers tell you what they want to get printed. You can actually get these printed from a nearby mall. Even if you are able to sell this on eBay at no profit, its OK. Give yourself a few months to understand each aspect of this business and then seek profits. There may be unexpected costs associated with your online business, like shipping, returns, breakage, storage, fuel,  commissions, fees taxes, registration etc.. So start with a very low budget, even if you lose everything you put in, it should not change your life by much. Try different products, try those products where competition is relatively low. You can sell items on Amazon.com, eBay.com, Buy.com and countless other sites. Gradually increase by reinvesting your profits back into business.

2. Affiliate marketing:
In affiliate marketing you basically help other others to sell products and services, and in turn they pay you a commission. The good part in this work is that initial investment is low because you do not have to buy stuff and store it, the product directly goes from the seller to buyer and you get your sales commission. For example, Amazon.com affiliates/partner program enables you to get a roughly 5% commissoin on whatever you help them to sell. You can get $2 commission per sale if you help them sell a book, or a $50 commission if you help them sell a plasma screen TV. 3. Blogging / Google Adsense:
You can create your own blog or a website. Provide informative content and do a lot of search engine optimization. Then once you start getting visitors to your website, you can put Google Adsense Ads on your website. Unfortunately this field is overly crowded, so if you decide to pursue, do a lot of resarch. 4. Independent Contractor on Freelancer.com or oDesk.com:
There are thousands of jobs posted on these websites which require people to complete a task from home. This may include writing articles, forum moderation, programming, writing a book and much more. You can never fully trust people online, so always try to bid on projects which are posted by sellers who have a good rating (you will figure this out). Additionally you should always ask for a payment plan, rather than getting paid only when you submit full work. If you do good work for these people, they keep hiring you repeatedly, payments are usually handled over the paypal.com .

5. Other creative ideas:
I know a friend who is a sales agent with a collection agency (not a collector). He makes cold calls from his home and tries to sell products to businesses and doctors, and makes more money than I make with my job and online income combined. If you are good in programming, yo ucan probably help people create websites for cheap, you can start with creating a free website for your school or a church, therefore when you actually go out in the field for real work, you can demonstrate this work to them. You can even help people find jobs and take commission or a service charge from them. You can basically take their resume and try to find a suitable employer for them at sites like monster.com, dice.com, hotjobs.com  and career builder.com

6. Become a home based customer service agent:
Many companies like  Alpine Access, West Corporation and LiveOps, employ you right from your home. Since you are working from home, they land up saving a lot of money (like no office cost, less benefits/perks). But you need a good internet connection, a phone line and likely a seperate distraction free room which you can call as 'Home office'.  

There are chances that you will face failure in initial few attempts, but remember the "mice", keep trying. Be practical and do not over spend. Do not tell you friends what you are doing too fast, as they may decide to do the same thing before you get establised and land up becoming your own competitor (sounds mean .. hey who says life is fair)

Most good schemes do not charge you anything or the starting costs are within $100. It takes a while to master this technique of working from home, so do not lose patience. Work hard and take mindful decisions than spontaneous ones. You will likely not make enough money by stuffing envelopes or taking paid surverys.

Points #1, #4 annd #6 are my personal favourites. Remember, if anyone tries to convince an easy scheme, it likely has a catch otherwise everyone in the world would be doing it.
